Well there is good news and bad news so here goes. The work on Playa Flamingo has been completed!! However there is no sand so the beach is really quite rocky and definitely not child friendly at the moment. Hopefully Yaiza council will find a solution by coming up with the required reddies, a mere 7000 euros im led to believe.
So if you are planning a trip to my favourite isle then make sure your accomodation is nearer Playa Dorada or Playa Blanca town beach. At this time of the year the North East trade winds are starting to die down so making some of the more exposed beaches just right to enjoy. This time of the year is ideal for those great hiking trips that Lanzarote has to offer. There are many scenic coastal walks and if you fancy a bit more adventure try the hikes from Femes to Playa Quemada or El Risco path down to Famara beach. Dont try this hike unprepared or alone as the pathway (a former goatherders path) can be quite scary in places. Great views across to Graciosa make this a most rewarding hike with the cooling Atlantic on Famara beach to cool off those hot tired feet.
